Melbourne Stars batsman Ben Duckett, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, has been on fire with the bat in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 match against the Sydney Sixers. The match between the two teams takes place at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney on Thursday (December 26).
England national cricket team batsman Ben Duckett came up with the superb effort for Melbourne Stars and put his team in the dominant position. The opening batsman looked solid right from the start and put pressure on the Sydney Sixers bowlers, taking his side to a flying start.
Ben Duckett's best came in the fourth of the innings when he hit six straight
Duckett's best came in the fourth of the innings when he hit six consecutive fours against Sydney Sixers spinner Akeal Hosein, who is the No. 1 ranked T20I bowler. The batsman brought his brutal best and entertained the crowd at sea with his blistering batting in the 11th match of BBL 2024-25.
Duckett started with the boundary over mid-wicket. Akeal Hosein bowled a short delivery that the batsman swung back and pulled to hit a four. On the next ball, he got lucky as the ball caught the edge and went for a boundary.
The spinner bowled a short delivery outside the off stump which Duckett looked to cut late and hard. The ball caught the thick edge that flew through the slip region and went for the boundary, putting pressure on the bowler.
On the third ball, Akeal Hosein bowled a delivery that was cleared. Duckett settled for the line and swung it as he put the pull over mid-wicket to complete a hat-trick of four wickets in the over.
The same result played out on the fourth ball as Ben Duckett brought up the reverse sweep on the fourth ball. Sydney Sixers adjusted the off-side pitch but the batsman took his stance and hit this full delivery over backward point.
On the 5th ball Duckett came with the reverse sweep again but this time it was finer, more towards third man. The England national cricket team batsman then made sure he finished over the top as he slammed another boundary to complete his six fours.
Akeal Hosein came across the wicket and tried to slow him down but Ben Duckett was smart enough to adjust his bat swing and delayed the way up. Timed the ball to perfection and hit the 6th four of the over.
