Manchester City's bid to end their miserable run of form continues after a 1-1 draw with Everton on Boxing Day left them with just one win in their last 13 games in all competitions.
City got off to a flying start and took a deserved lead through Bernardo Silva in the 14th minute, with the Portuguese picking up a clever pass from Jeremy Doku and slotting the ball into the back of the net courtesy of Jarrad Branthwaite.
Silva should have had a second and City's sloppiness was punished in the first half as Iliman Ndiaye sent an instinctive volley – Everton's first touch in the City area – curling into the top corner to tie things at the interval.
Jordan Pickford referred to his trusty water bottle for guidance to save an Erling Haaland penalty shortly after the restart. The striker headed home a rebound that eventually came his way, only to see the offside flag raised immediately and extend City's frustrations.
