The fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 between Australia and India will take place on Thursday, December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The hosts ahead of the upcoming Test Australia had an optional workout on Monday (December 23).
However, their side's key player was missing from Monday's net session ahead of the Boxing Day Test. According to a report by the Sydney Morning Herald, the player absent from the net session is none other than that. Head of Travis.
There is talk that the hard batting is doubtful for the fourth BGT 2024-25 Test immediately after the conclusion of the third Test at The Gabba. In the second innings of the previous Test, he was seen limping and then did not take the field. But the left-hander had earlier indicated that he was a little sore and would be fine ahead of the Melbourne Test.
According to the Syndey Morning Herald, a spokesperson for the Australian team said on Monday that the practice was optional. However, the hosts will have their main training session on Tuesday (December 24). The spokesperson said that the Chief BGT 2024-25 will have to prove himself in the main training session ahead of the fourth Test.
Therefore, it remains to be seen whether Travis Head will be available for the upcoming Test or if the hosts will be content without one of their best players in the series so far.
Travis Head's exclusion could be a huge blow for Australia in BGT 2024-25.
while India BGT won the opening Test of 2024-25 in Perth by 295 runs, as Australia bounced back with a Group 10 win in Adelaide. The third Test in Brisbane has been drawn and the series is now in the balance (1-1).
Having wanted BGT back for some time now, Australia certainly won't want Travis Head to miss out. He is not only their main performer, but also the highest scorer in the series so far.
Head has already scored 409 runs from three games and several half-centuries in five innings at an average of 81.80. He is in great form and has been a consistent performer throughout the series. The left-hander has proved to be a tough nut to crack for India and if he misses the rest of the series or even just the Melbourne Test, it could be a huge blow for the hosts.
