Nitish Kumar Reddy's father Mutyala Reddy met Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar, a day after his son scored a memorable century in the ongoing Boxing Day Test against Australia. In a heartwarming video, Nitish Kumar Reddy's father touched Sunil Gavaskar's feet, leaving the legend overwhelmed.
Nitish came out to bat after Rishabh Pant was dismissed on Day 3 of the fourth Test of the five-match series on Saturday, December 28. He reached his half-century in the second session and later celebrated his maiden Test century with a boundary. Nitish dedicated his first Test ton to his father.

In a video that is taking the internet by storm, Mutyala Reddy was seen touching Sunil Gavaskar's feet. Mutyala, who quit his government job to support his son's cricket career, was accompanied by his wife and daughter. Gavaskar greeted the rest of the Reddy family warmly with folded hands.

Gavaskar became emotional while talking to Nitish Kumar Reddy's parents. He acknowledged the significant sacrifices made by the family. Gavaskar went on to say that Indian cricket got a real gem in Nitish because of them.
“”I know how successful you've been. There were tears in my eyes from your face. India got this diamond from your face (We know how much he sacrificed. He fought a lot. Because of you, I shed tears. Because of you, India has a diamond, the Indian cricket has a diamond,” Gavaskar said.

Nitish's sister Tejaswi Reddy translated for her mother, who was overwhelmed by the experience of meeting the cricketing legends. Tejaswi said that her mother had never imagined that she was in such a situation and could not express her feelings.
“He never imagined he would be in this place with these legends. She can't express her feeling. He can't believe even now that my brother is playing on such a big ground and played such a big innings,” said Tejaswi Reddy.

When Sunil Gavaskar asked Tejaswi if Nitish bothered her, she replied that their sibling bond is like a 'Tom and Jerry' relationship. Tejaswi proudly mentioned that Nitish always promised to make the family proud and his century in the match was when he fulfilled that promise.
Tejaswi agreed, “Of course sir! The brother-sister bond is like that. There has always been a connection between Tom and Jerry. we love each other We don't usually show much, but we love each other. I am a very proud sister. He always said I would make you all proud one day and yesterday was that day.”
Tejaswi Reddy, who translates for her father, said he thanked everyone for their support, acknowledging that it was Nitish's efforts that brought the family to this point.
“My father is very happy. He thanks them all by name. Because of everyone we are here, because of Nitish we are here. We will always be grateful to everyone,” said Tejaswi.
