Australian national cricket team captain Pat Cummins was all praise for Indian national cricket team pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his effort with the ball in the fourth Test at the MCG. But the home skipper felt no empathy for the visitors' vice-captain for ending up on the losing side.
In what was an extreme thing for the Indian fans, Jasprit Bumrah, despite giving his best effort with the ball, ended up on the losing side. The Australian National Cricket Team defeated the Indian National Cricket Team by a massive margin of 184 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
Jasprit Bumrah had to do the bulk of the bowling, bowled nearly 53 overs without much support from others with the ball in Melbourne
Bumrah was simply more than his best with the ball in the fourth Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. The first pacer, despite the lack of support from the others, gave his best and time after time rocked the team led by Pat Cummins.
With others giving him no support, Bumrah had to do the bulk of the bowling and despite being tired, he did not back down and continued to bowl with the same intensity for his team. Although he was taken for a few runs in the first innings, he picked 4 wickets for his team.
Bumrah's best effort came in the second innings of the match where he picked a fiver and brought his team back into the game. The opening pacer bowled close to 53 overs and despite that, ended up on the losing side due to poor efforts from the batsmen.
I thought they all played pretty well, Jasprit Bumrah in particular, is the biggest threat – Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins praised Jasprit Bumrah, saying the fast bowler is the most influential player and has made things difficult for them in the series. The Australian national cricket team captain also called the Indian pacer as a big threat for them. Speaking to reporters, he explained;
“Yeah, he's, you know, obviously a very good bowler, in great form. You know, he's been their most influential player. He's made it difficult for us at times. You know, I thought all their bowlers played really well yesterday .
“Again, I don't think the pitch did much, but they made it really hard for us and they fought hard. So I thought, yeah, they all played pretty well. You know, he especially poses the biggest. threat.”
“Empathy? Not much, no” – Pat Cummins on Jasprit Bumrah
Pat Cummins was also asked if he feels empathy for the loss of Jasprit Bumrah after such a game. Responding to this, Australia's national cricket team captain said: “Empathy? Not much, no.”
The 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy is currently in favor of the Australian national cricket team. They lead the series 2-1 and the next match is all set to take place from January 3rd.
