Sunil Gavaskar has been in controversy recently for his negative and controversial remarks recently. The former India opener doesn't stop at speaking his heart out and stays in the news. Meanwhile, Scott Boland was the pick of the bowlers for Australia in the first innings with figures of 3-57.
In the same Test, Sunil Gavaskar was earlier in the news for slamming Rishabh Pant for his poor shot selection in India's first innings. Pant was out trying to play an unorthodox ramp shot to Scott Boland and bowled Nathan Lyon in the deep.
In the commentary panel, Gavaskar used the words “stupid” several times and attacked him for not playing according to the situation and instead letting his team down. He even added that Pant should not enter the Indian dressing room.
Sunil Gavaskar also criticized the Australian media for using derogatory remarks against Indian players in the ongoing series. Virat Kohli and the other Indian players were heavily targeted by the Australian media throughout the series.
Australia provide India with a stiff target
Earlier in the day, India bowled out Australia for 234 in the second innings, leaving India with 340 runs to win the match. Nathan Lyon was the last wicket to fall for Australia as Jasprit Bumrah completed another five-wicket haul.
Bumrah finished with 5-57 while his bowling partner Mohammed Siraj also took three wickets. Marnus Labuschagne top-scored for Australia with 70, while Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon contributed crucial forties down the order.
In reply, India got off to a steady start with openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma taking their time to play the new ball. Rohit was the first wicket to fall and was dismissed for another low score (9 off 40 balls).
KL Rahul was also dismissed cheaply for a duck by Australian captain Pat Cummins. Virat Kohli looked solid initially but was dismissed by Mitchell Starc during lunch for just 5 off 29 balls.
But Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant strengthened India's ship and formed a good partnership. Jaiswal completed a well compiled fifty and was batting well. Pat Cummins picked up two wickets while Starc claimed a solitary wicket.
