Tottenham have won just two of their last 10 games as Wolves struck late on to draw 2-2 in front of a disgruntled home crowd.
Spurs looked to have the game in the bag as goals from Rodrigo Bentancur and Brennan Johnson put them 2-1 up after Hee-Chan Hwang opened the scoring.
However, despite losing key man Matheus Cunha at half-time through injury, Wolves found a late equalizer through Jorgen Strand Larsen to take seven points from Vítor Pereira's first three games.
The draw means Spurs, who also missed a penalty through Heung-Min Son at 1-1 and were booed at half-time, have failed to win in their last five home games and leave them 11th in the Premier League table with just 24 points from 19 games.
It also leaves boss Ange Postecoglou under a lot of pressure.
A terrible month of December, with poor results accompanied by a growing injury list, saw Spurs drop down the table, but they looked on course to end 2024 with a win after a strong first-half finish.
Postecoglou's depleted side could not add a third or hold on though, and their injury curse struck again when Destiny Udogie limped off in the second half with a hamstring injury.
Ange: It hurts me immensely
Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou:
“It hurts me because I am responsible.
“When I see how hard they work, it hurts even more. I wanted them to be rewarded for their efforts. It hurts immensely. I am responsible for where we are right now.
“I will continue like that, mate, we have work to do to get help with these players. Our role is to help them give their best. I see how hard they are trying. If we were at our best we would have that third and fourth goal, we lack a dynamic movement we need, Sonny sharpens as much as we can.
“We have a lot of work to do and nothing is going smoothly in terms of bringing back players that would allow us to refresh the team. When we get one back, we lose one.”
Analysis: Kulusevski is a machine
Lewis Jones from Sky Sports:
If you could bottle and sell Dejan Kulusevski's secret formula, you would make millions.
Ange Postecoglou said after watching the star: “Where does Deki (Kulushevsky) get his energy from?”
Such is his relentless energy, an argument is being made that he may not be human.
Playing his fifth consecutive 90 minutes in just 14 days, he was once again Tottenham's best player in possession, creating a goal and three more chances, their most prolific without it.
No player on the field ran further than Kulusevski with a total of 12.3 km, and his 16 sprints were also the best of all players.
He must sleep well at night.
It's clear that Spurs are running on empty. Not only are they missing their best defenders, but their key men in attack also need rest. Heung-Min Son just can't cope with this relentless schedule now, and his penalty miss showed that while Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson are doing their best but are well short of their best. Well done then, Spurs have Kulusevski.
His shoulders must be hurting carrying this side.
