South Africa are currently leading the series after their thrilling 2-wicket win in the first SA vs PAK Test in Centurion. With an unassailable lead already in the bag, South Africa will be confident and look to win the second Test as well.
South Africa started the game on a good note as they bowled out Pakistan for just 211 runs. Dane Paterson starred with the ball taking 5 wickets while debutant Corbin Bosch claimed 4 wickets. In reply, the Proteas scored 301 runs thanks to fifties from Aiden Markram and Bosch.
South Africa beat Pakistan by 237 runs with Marco Jansen taking 6 wickets. Set a target of 148 runs, South Africa were reeling at 99/8 before a 51-run stand between Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada took them home.

Newlands is one of the few grounds in South Africa that offers some assistance to the spinners. However, things were very different in the last Test played at this venue. The match was played between South Africa and India in January last year.
Batting first, South Africa were all out for just 55 runs while India scored 153. In the second innings, South Africa scored 176 before India chased down the target of 79 runs by losing three wickets. The Pacers had completely dominated the proceedings. No spinner had bowled in that game.
The ICC later rated the pitch as “unsatisfactory” under the ICC Pitch and Ground Monitoring Process. The conditions might be different this time and the spinners might make their presence felt in the upcoming game.
