Liverpool have played down approaches from Crystal Palace and Ipswich for winger Ben Doak.
Neither Palace nor Ipswich have come close to Liverpool's valuation of Doak, who is currently on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough.
The Scotland international is said to be one of Palace's main targets this month, while Ipswich are currently considering whether to make an offer closer to Liverpool's asking price.
Liverpool have also turned down major interest from European teams. The Reds are pleased with the 19-year-old's progress at Boro and believe he still has a future at Anfield and can eventually play in Arne Slott's first team.
The 19-year-old won the EFL Young Player of the Month for December and Liverpool believe he is the best player in the division.
The 19-year-old has registered two goals and five assists in his 17 Championship starts for Michael Carrick's side and is now attracting interest from the Eagles.
Next: Who Is Scottish Wonderkid Doak?
Sam Blitz from Sky Sports:
Ten years ago, nine-year-old Ben Doak played for Ayr United's U11s against Hamilton Academicals.
He played in two seven-man games against two different Accies sides that day and scored nine goals. It would eventually lead him to better things.
Jim Began, Celtic's chief talent scout, was watching. At that point, there was no doubt where Doak was going next.
“I remember seeing Jim on the sidelines and I had a feeling he was there to see Ben because he was doing so well and there was so much excitement around him,” says Liam Anderson, one of Doak's coaches at Ayr Utd in that time.
“On that day you think: let's hope he does well, but not too well. But he was unbelievable that day.”
A decade after that display on the seven-man pitch, he was demolishing Croatia and Man City defender Joško Guardiola at Hampden Park in Scottish colours.
After a sensational international break last month, he assisted John McGinn's opening goals in wins over Croatia and Poland. He is now one of the first names on Steve Clarke's squad list.
And that's not all. Doak established himself as one of the Championship's most exciting players on loan at Middlesbrough – his blistering pace wreaking havoc on second-tier defences. Goals and assists are flying.
Parent club Liverpool are watching and with doubts over Mohamed Salah's long-term future at Anfield, Arne Slott may not have to look far for a potential replacement.
It's Ben Doak Next Up.
What Palace and Ipswich bosses have said about the transfers
The boss of the palace Oliver Glasner revealed his side are keen to sign two players in the January transfer window, while also remaining hopeful of keeping hold of the defender Marc Guehi in the club.
“We want to sign two players in two different positions. We have to reach deals and this is the job of the club,” he said, speaking ahead of Palace's next game at home to Chelsea.
“We have a clear commitment to sign two new players. Let's not talk about individual names.”
Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna has admitted that he wants to boost their offensive capabilities, but has refused to back down Poor Philogene links.
Sky Sports News reported on Thursday that Philogene is of interest to Ipswich and that the club is monitoring his situation.
“My focus is on the players we have here,” McKenna said. “Of course, we're trying to add to the team in this window like any team and we want to make the team better, not just for the second half of the season, but for the long term. So we'll look to do that in the best possible way.
Asked if his side wanted to improve in attack, he said: “I think that's an area we need to add to. It's an area we wanted to add in the summer window and then, of course, we missed out.
“We made some good additions earlier in the summer but we would still have liked to have added one or two more pieces in the summer up front and then of course George Hirst missed the 19 league games we had.
“It's a big loss, it's put a big burden on Liam Delap as a really young forward. Luckily he's handled that burden well, but we still want to add in different areas of the pitch and we want to add more goals in the forward area if possible.”
