1. Arrest of Scottie Scheffler
Scottie Scheffler was pulled over by Louisville Metro Police on his way to Valhalla Golf Course in May. On his way to the venue for the 2024 PGA Championship, the world No. 1 reportedly violated traffic rules and injured a police officer.
The American was arrested on charges of third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, second-degree assault and traffic violations. He spent a few hours in jail, but was later released and even competed in the second round of the PGA Championship. It should be noted that the charges against the golfer were later dropped.
2. Rory McIlroy's divorce news
Rory McIlroy's personal life made headlines earlier this year. In May, it was reported that the Northern Irish golfer filed for divorce from his wife Erica Stoll.
However, the highly publicized divorce case was shelved and the couple rekindled their romance in June 2024. McIlroy didn't talk much about his personal life while the divorce rumors were swirling, but after news of the reconciliation broke, he did. He (via Times Now News):

Tiger Woods shocked many in the golf world earlier this year when he parted ways with Nike after 27 years. However, shortly after, he announced his own clothing line called “Sun Day Red” in collaboration with TaylorMade. The new outfit made headlines at the end of the year its high-value products.
4. Bryson DeChambeau teams up with Donald Trump for a surprising collaboration
Another interesting golf story from 2024 was the unlikely collaboration of LIV golfer Bryson DeChambeau and Donald Trump. They collaborated for the LIV golfer's popular Break 50 channel in the run-up to the US presidential election.
The video of both of them participating in the Challenge has garnered a lot of views on YouTube. At the time of writing, it had more than 13.5 million views.
5. Matt Fitzpatrick married Katherine Gaal
This year has been a special year for English golfers Matt Fitzpatrick. In October 2024, he married his long-time girlfriend Catherine Gala.
The couple had been dating for a while and made their relationship public on Instagram in January 2023. They finally got married in 2024.
