Today on Sky Sports Racing: All-weather action from Southwell and Wolverhampton as the cold sets in | Racing News

Freezing temperatures have taken a toll on some of the races on this weekend's fixture list, but all-weather action continues at Southwell and Wolverhampton, both live on Sky Sports Racing.

5.05 Southwell – Unbeaten Moon over Miami makes his handicap debut

2024 has been a good year for Ralph Beckett and he could have another potentially intelligent animal on his hands with The moon over Miami who was an impressive winner on debut at Doncaster last year.

He was then seen taking a penalty in the Yarmouth Novice in May and clearly struggled with being away, but he made it to £30 in Free Bets with BetUK Handicap (5.05) rated 91 and if he builds on his two starts he will be dangerous on handicap debut.

Young coach Jack Morland has shown that he has a hand with the new recruits and wants to work his magic with Gaassee. He is 7lb below his last winning mark and could be back.

Another unexposed rival is Glen Buck who comes here after a good run after a long break at Wolverhampton when third. Obviously the six-year-old was difficult to train, but if he was fit and well he could run well.

6.35 Southwell – Rebel Empire & Ormolulu square off again

It will be an interesting game £5 Weekly Free Bet with BetUK Handicap (6.35) in between Rebel Empire and Ormolulu who both have 5lb penalties to carry as they square off again here in a competitive handicap.

Gemma Tutty is in great form and got the better of Richard Hannon's Rebel Empire when they lined up over this course and distance last month and is tipped to confirm that form.

Many A Star he had a big trip at Chelmsford and still managed to finish well in third, the handicap dropping him by 1lb which gives him a great chance if he gets a better run this time.

6.50 Wolverhampton – Angel of Antrim looking for a quadruple

The aforementioned Jack Morland scored a hat-trick Angel of Antrim last time and it looked like the key to this one was the switch from cheek to visor, which he holds here as he tries to defy a £5 fine.

He is now rated 19lb higher than his first hat-trick win but is in excellent form and likely to enter again.

Rosenpur has finished second on his last three occasions, two of which have been over the road and over the distance, but is yet to win from thirty starts and could be a tough task against the in-form Angel Of Antrim.

Circles and Ignace Lamar fill in the shortlist.

Watch every race from Southwell and Wolverhampton live on Sky Sports Racing on Saturday 4th January.
