AUS vs IND: Pat Cummins lauds Australia’s valiant effort from falling behind to winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25



Celebrations are in the Australian camp as their team won the historic tournament against India to end ten years of rule form the social side and win Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Amidst the applause from the entire cricket community, the Australian captain Pat Cummins praised his team for showing rare love after winning the SCG test.

Amazing tour of Australia in BGT 2024-25

The tour of the Australian team in the Border-Gavaskar 2024-25 has been an extreme one and a test of the team's form. The home side was dominated by India in Perth after the visitors declared their second innings total at 487/6 and restricted the Aussies to 238.

The home team bounced back in the second Test – an overnight encounter between the two sides which the Australian team won. The lead in the series went to Brisbane when Australia came close to victory but bravery from the Indian wicketkeepers and rain interference saved the visiting team and the match ended in a draw.

From there, the Australian team never looked back in the series as they fought their hearts out in Melbourne to seal a Boxing Day Test victory and beat India in the final Test to end their decade-long dominance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The Australian captain was all praise for his team's respect and went on to praise his side's efforts to clinch a historic victory. Cummins showed the importance of not making any changes after losing to Perth which was the best of the series.

“I think the most important thing is what you don't change. Of course, when you lose like that (in Perth), you reassess where you are. But we're very happy with the way a lot of guys went. I thought we had a bad week, but I thought our game plan, strategy, decisions , all we wanted to be, maybe our execution was less, “ Cummins said.

Australia to secure test series against South Africa at WTC final

With a 3-1 series victory, Australia won ICC World Test Championship finalit should be done in June this year on the Lord. The Aussies will be hoping to defend their Test mace which they earned after defeating India in the last round against the deciders. South Africa who had already reserved space at the end of the WTC.

Cummins, expressing his team's desire to remain Test champions, spoke about the importance of competition in the group and highlighted the importance of keeping Tests in the Australian cabinet.

“It's big for us. We talk a lot about the World Test Championship. You know, it's a trophy that we're proud to have. So we want to go back and defend it. I think it's a great tournament because you have to play well with consistency and variety at different levels and yes, it's good to be there again there, I can't wait to get there,” Cummins is described.

Australia did not play with them Sri Lanka in the WTC cycle. Back-to-back wins for the Aussies could put them at the top of the WTC standings ahead of the match against South Africa.
