Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool could be in a “really strong” position to win the Premier League by replacing Andy Robertson this month.
In his eighth season at the club, Robertson has been involved in questionable defensive displays on the pitch. They struggled against Manchester United with a 2-2 draw at home. On Sunday, the visitors scored their first goal at Anfield since 2018.
“We need to bring in a full-back in January – left-back I think,” former Liverpool defender Carragher told Sky Sports. “If Liverpool get a left-back in January, it will put them in a really strong position.
“Robertson is absolutely legendary and I love him. He hangs out every game. I think (still studying) Konstantinos Tsimikas is pretty standard to replace him.”
“If I look back on tomorrow, I'll expect more.”

Liverpool to replace Robertson
Robertson, who won the Champions League and Champions League under former manager Jurgen Klopp, has started 17 of Liverpool's 19 league games and three of their European games under new manager Anislo.
In one of the most forgettable performances of his career, the 30-year-old was sent off after 17 minutes of a 2-2 home draw with Fulham on 14 December.
After the draw with United, most of the scrutiny fell on right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the visitors focusing most of their attacks on his side and scoring their goals on that side.
Alexander-Arnold 'really poor'
“Trent was really poor today but Conor Bradley has improved and he's fantastic,” Carragher said. He is being linked with a move to Real Madrid..
“I don't think the game could have gone any worse for him. He is expected to become almost a right-back with the kind of ability to dominate a game.

“I thought Manchester United's system would play into his hands and gave him a lot of space to combine with Mossall.
“He's poor defensively, but we've seen that before. There is nothing to move forward in football.”
Alexander-Arnold has said that he is hurting Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old was replaced by Bradley in the 84th minute and United 2-2 four minutes later – Robertson came closest to scoring against Amad Diallo – and Alexander-Arnold was booked minutes later.
“Only he knows if this talk will hurt him,” he said. But the fact that he was so poor in the first game after Real Madrid made a bid for him tells me that,” Carragher said. “Trent should be out pretty early.”
