Indian national cricket team fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has undergone a massive scan after sustaining the injury during the last game of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The fast bowler experienced a back spasm during the first innings of the Sydney Test and did not bowl thereafter.
There is no clarity on the extent of the injury that Jasprit Bumrah has been dealing with and it has made many to wonder whether or not the pacer will play in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. But as per reports in Sports Tak, it is learned that the exact nature of his injury will be revealed soon.

Jasprit Bumrah, according to reports in Sports Tak, will consult his personal doctor, who operated on him in New Zealand, along with the BCCI medical team. After the checkup, the doctors will have the final call on the treatment the stimulator needs along with the rehabilitation process.
A source close to the developments said that Jasprit Bumrah has confirmed the same, saying that the fast bowler will be rested if needed.

He stressed that the appeal will be taken after the nature of his injury is known. He said:
“What he has to do and what suggestions he has to take all this is between the BCCI doctors and his doctor who operated on him in New Zealand, you will know in a few days the exact nature of the injury and the condition… it all depends on him personally…
“He is in contact with the doctors and will be further assessed to know exactly the injury and the level, if he needs rest he will be given it without a doubt, but before that, we need to know exactly his injury, then only the doctors. will decide the next step will be taken accordingly, as of now we can only hope and wish him a speedy recovery.
Rishabh Pant's name is also being considered for Test captaincy as Jasprit Bumrah struggles with his fitness
Amidst things surrounding his fitness, there were reports in RevSportz that there would be talks of not handing over the Test captaincy to Jasprit Bumrah due to his workload. It will be considered that if the fast bowler is given the lead, he will be able to play all the games.
Reports added that Rishabh Pant's name is also being considered for the Test captaincy as he is doing well in the format. Immediately, there will be no more appeals regarding the same and discussions around it will be conducted around the England series.
As for Bumrah, it is learned that the fast bowler will be rested for the three-match ODI series against England. This is because the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wants the fast bowler to be fit for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
