Versatile Washington Sundar shared his heartfelt thoughts after India's defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The 25-year-old took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to express his emotions and offer hope for the future.
“Not the result we expected, but this journey has been unforgettable. We left everything on the field and are proud of the heart and resilience shown by the team. A huge thank you to the fans for their incredible support – we felt it every step of the way. Next,” Sundar posted.
Sundar's Trophy journey to the Gavaskar boundary
The young all-rounder earned his place in India's Test squad for Border Trophy-Gavaskar after an impressive home series against New Zealand. He managed to take 16 wickets while also scoring 89 runs despite India's 3-0 loss at home.
In the series against AustraliaSundar managed to take 3 wickets and scored 114 runs in 3 Tests.
Sundar missed the Day-Night Test in Adelaide and the rain-affected match at The Gabba. However, he made his mark in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. He scored a fighting 50 in the first innings, showing guts and determination with the bat. Although his off-spin took just one wicket in that game, his consistency in batting won plaudits.

In the fourth Test in Sydney, Sundar's batting efforts failed, scoring 14 and 12 in two innings. The pitch offered little help to the spinners, and Sundar bowled just one ball in the entire match – the last over of the game.
India Series Reaction
of India the loss in the fifth and final Test at the SCG marked their first loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series since 2015. Gautam Gambhir's side, which had hoped to secure a place in the World Test Championship Final, suffered a big blow.
On the final day at the SCG, India resumed their innings at 141-6 but were bundled out for 157. Australia's Scott Boland wreaked havoc with figures of 6-45. Chasing a modest target of 162, Australia lost early wickets but cruised to a six-wicket win inside 27 overs.
