Yuvraj Singh backs Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli amid criticism


Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has come out in support of ill-fated coach Gautam Gambhir, captain Rohit Sharma and veteran player Virat Kohli, asking fans and critics to acknowledge their past achievements before rushing to judge recent failures.

He further expressed concern over the swift criticism Rohit and Kohli are facing.

“People are criticizing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli a lot, but people forget what they have achieved in the past. They are two of the greatest cricketers of this time. It's good they lost, they're more hurt than us. I am sure India will bounce back,” added Yuvraj.

Gambhir, Agarkar and the future of Indian cricket

Yuvraj also mentioned that the future direction of Indian cricket is in the hands of the head coach Gautam Gambhircaptain Rohit Sharmashoot high Virat Kohli, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar.

“Gautam Gambhir as a coach, Ajit Agarkar as a selector, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli – they are the best minds in cricket now. And they have to decide what is the future of Indian cricket. When asked about possible changes in the Indian dressing room, Yuvraj reiterated his support for Rohit and Kohli. He made it clear that he sees them as family and believes in standing by them during challenging times.

“First of all, I'm not in that position. I was a student of the game and I am still a student of the game. Gambhir, Rohit and Virat have played more cricket than me. I can only give my opinion. When players are not performing, it is very easy to criticize them but very difficult to support them,” said Yuvraj.

The southpaw emphasized the media's role in the criticism, but maintained that his job is to support his friends.

“It is the duty of the media to criticize them and it is my duty to support my friends and brothers. To me, they are my family. Simple,” concluded Yuvraj.
