West Ham United have confirmed that they have parted company with manager Julen Lopetegui.
The Hammers decided to part ways with David Moyes in the summer in favor of more high-profile hires, but the former Spain and Real Madrid Boss Lopetegui won just seven of his 22 games during his six months in charge.
Lopetegui's future was first thrown into question at the start of December after a miserable start to the campaign, only for a 2-1 win at fellow Wolverhampton Wanderers to buy him more time to turn things around.
However, since then, West Ham's only win has come against bottom side Southampton, with Lopetegui's last two games coming 5-0 and 4-1 at his hands. Liverpool AND Manchester City respectively.
“West Ham United can confirm that manager Julen Lopetegui has left the club today,” read a statement.
“The first half of the 2024/25 season is not in line with the Club's ambitions and therefore the Club has taken action in line with its objectives.
“The club can confirm that assistant coach Pablo Sanz, head of performance Oscar Caro, chief analyst Juan Vicente Peinado, fitness coach Borja De Alba and technical coach Edu Rubio have also left with immediate effect.
“The board would like to thank Julen and his staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future.”
West Ham is expected to replace Lopetegui with former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter, who could take charge in time for Friday's FA Cup tie with Aston Villa.
