Plymouth Argyle have announced Miron Muslic as the club's new head coach on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
Muslić most recently coached Cercle Brigge where he had an impressive record, winning 43 of 101 games in charge as he took the Belgian side from a lowly domestic position to European football.
Plymouth are bottom of the Sky Bet Championship table with 20 points from 25 games and the Austrian-Bosnian came in as Wayne Rooney's successor.
The 42-year-old had additional management experience in Austrian teams Ried and Floridsdorfer AC.
Muslic beat off competition from several high caliber candidates to become Argyle's number one choice on the board, with chairman Simon Hallett expressing his delight at bringing him to the club.
He said: “Miron had a clear vision of how he wanted to take Argyle forward and showed a depth of tactical awareness that made it clear how he wanted the team to set up and play.
“He comes with glowing reviews from his time at Cercle Brigge, where he took the team from a lowly league position to European football, which is no mean feat.
“I would like to welcome him to the club and look forward to seeing him make an immediate impact on the team.”
Muslić will be in the stands for Saturday's Emirates FA Cup match against Brentford alongside Hallett.
First team coach Kevin Nancekivell will be part of Muslić's backroom team, with additional confirmation of his staff in due course.
Rooney left Plymouth Argyle after a nine-game winless run left the club bottom of the Sky Bet Championship on New Year's Eve.
Appointed in May on a three-year contract, Rooney left Plymouth after just seven months in charge of the club, four points from safety.
His last game in charge was played on December 29, when Argyle were defeated 2-0 at Oxford.
