Indian women's national cricket team batsman Smriti Mandhana has achieved a huge feat in the history of ODIs for the national team. The opening batsman became only the second player from the Indian team to cross 4000 runs in the history of 50-over cricket.
Mandhana achieved the feat during the ongoing first game of the ODI series against the Ireland women's national cricket team. The opening match of the three-match series between the teams takes place at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.

Mandhana, during her innings, crossed the 4000-run mark and became only the second Indian woman cricketer after Mithali Raj to reach the milestone. Overall, she became the 15th player in the history of women's cricket to cross the milestone.

Mandhana, who has been going through the purple patch in ODIs, played an innings of 41 runs from 29 balls. The opening batsman batted at a strike rate of over 141 and also hit 6 fours and 1 six in her innings, taking her team to a flyer.
Mandhana has been named the captain of the team in the ongoing series against the Ireland women's national cricket team. This is because the regular skipper Harmanpeeet Kaur was rested from the series and Smriti, being the vice-captain, was given the role.
