Amad Diallo says he is looking forward to a long career at Manchester United after signing a new long-term contract.
The Ivorian has been the touchstone of what has been a difficult season for United so far. The Red Devils are languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League tablehaving won just six of the 20 games they have played and were forced to part with the services of manager Erik ten Hag in October in favor of the appointment of Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese manager, who had overseen a perfect start to the season for previous employers Sporting CP, has found the going at Old Trafford difficult – a complete overhaul of the side's playing style one of the many factors in United's struggles – but a bright spark there was the cocooning form of Amad.
A winning goal in Manchester City was recently followed by an equalizer against United's fierce rivals Liverpool, scored a few days before signed a new five and a half year contract.
Expressing his joy at the extension of his stay, Amad said United's club channels: “It means a lot to me because I love this club. Every time I wear the shirt, I'm very proud.
“Every time I'm on the pitch, I want to fight for this club and I'm very happy to be here for a long time.”
Speaking of him and unitedAmorim's progress, Amad continued: “Yes, we learn every day. We learn, you know, it's a new system for everyone. At first it was not easy, but I think now the team is starting to understand the system a little bit more .
“The manager and the staff are every day on the training ground to help us, to understand more of the system. We are very happy to have them and we want to follow them for the system because we know in the end that we will have success”.
Amad's next chance to shine may be coming Premier League the rivals Arsenal in a mouth watering FA Cup third round tie. United are the holders of the competition, having beaten City in last season's final at Wembley, but lost 2-0 to the Gunners in this very game less than a month ago.
