In the exciting competition of Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Sydney Sixers emerged the winner Perth Scorchers on 14 runs. An impressive century from Steve Smith and inspired bowling from Sean Abbott were the driving force behind the high score.
Good batting for Sydney Sixers
Asked to bat first after losing the toss, the Sixers posted 220/3 in their 20 overs. Steve Smith capped the innings with a stunning knock of 121 not out off just 64 balls, smashing 10 fours and 7 sixes. Smith showed his class and power, punishing the Scorchers bowlers with ease.
While Smith led the scoring, he got an assist Moises Henriqueswho scored a quick 46 from 28 balls, with two fours and two sixes. The late shots came from Ben Dwarshuis, who smashed an unbeaten 23 off just 7 balls, including a very long 3.
Among the Scorchers' bowlers, Ashton Agar was the best performer, scoring just 27 runs in his four overs and picking up the wicket of Henriques. However, the rest of the attack struggled against the Sixers, with Andrew Tye being very expensive, allowing 62 runs in his game.

A strong run by the Perth Scorchers
Chasing a daunting target of 221, the Scorchers tried hard but fell short, managing 206/7 in their 20 overs. Ashton Turner led the innings with a blistering 66* off 32 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes. Turner's aggressive knock kept the Scorchers in the hunt even as wickets fell all around him.
Sam Fanning (41 from 29) and Cooper Connolly (33 from 23) made valuable contributions, while Matthew Spoors added 28 from 17 below. However, the Sixers' batsmen continued to strike at critical moments to thwart the Scorchers' momentum.
Sean Abbott was the standout bowler for the Sixers, delivering a match-winning 4/43 in his four overs. His ability to pick up wickets in crucial situations, including the dismissal of the dangerous looking Connolly, made the game the Sixers' favorite.
