“Varun Chakaravarthy is picking up wickets one after another. He did well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well. He took a five-wicket haul against Rajasthan and has been consistently doing well. Since returning to the Indian T20I team, he has been picking up wickets every time”,
“The rumor mill is hot, the Indian cricket atmosphere has become so as we are getting a lot of news based on sources and some of them are coming true, that Varun Chakravarthy might be picked for the Champions Trophy. If he gets elected, who will come out – Ravindra Jadeja that's what I kept hearing.

Aakash Chopra also spoke about reports about Ravindra Jadeja's future in ODIs, saying that Chakravarthy could be added in his place with Axar Patel being the all-rounder. He added:
“I hope I hadn't heard this but it has now happened that Ravindra Jadeja might not be picked and you might see Varun Chakaravarthy in his place in the playing XI. There is a strong possibility. So you will see Axar in his place. Jaddu.”
