James McAtee was the hat-trick hero as Manchester City progressed to the fourth round of the competition FA Cup dismantling Salford City 8-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
City came out of the blocks, taking the lead after just four minutes through Jeremy Doku, and were cruising after 20 minutes when Divin Mubama doubled the advantage.
Nico O'Reilly increased the lead before the half-time interval, slotting home smartly into the bottom corner after a fine pass from the impressive Doc.
Jack Grealish won a penalty minutes into the second half and kicked the dust to convert from 12 yards – his first goal of the season – before McAtee took center stage.
The attacking midfielder brilliantly turned home Doc's cross to make it five for townbefore the latter extended their lead after winning another penalty – Salford defender Curtis Tilt penalized for the Doc's goal kick.
McAtee scored twice before the final whistle, capping off a fine display from City against a side hoping to emerge from League Two as champions.
