Rangers chief executive Patrick Stewart has revealed that Philippe Clement will remain as the club's manager despite growing fan pressure.
Former Manchester United boss Stewart – who took up his role at Ibrox less than a month ago – admits it would have been an “easy decision” to sack the Belgium manager following fan frustration. However, he insists his time at Old Trafford proves that constantly changing managers is ineffective.
Stewart warned that results must improve with no “cast iron guarantees” for Clement, whose side have won just three away league games this season and go into the weekend 15 points behind Celtic. He also rejected the suggestion that a lack of finances was behind the decision to keep the 50-year-old at the helm.
A “total football review” will begin on Monday with outside help – lasting six to 12 weeks – as it aims to tackle problems that have plagued the club on and off the pitch in recent seasons.
He also revealed that the club will look to add “one or two” players in the January transfer window, with the center back a priority they want to address from December.
