The ICC order was rejected! Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav force BCCI to delay team announcement

The Indian National Cricket Team is yet to announce the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament is all set to be played from February 19 and the deadline to announce the squad for the tournament has already been reached as the ICC has set February 12 as the last date for the designation of the provisional team.

There were earlier media reports stating that the BCCI had asked the ICC for an extension as the team had just returned from Australia after playing the five-match Test series. However, the real reason behind the delay in India's 2025 ICC Champions Trophy squad has been revealed.

Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav's fitness the main reason behind the delay in announcing the Indian team for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

According to reports in Dainik Jagran, it is learned that BCCI is still unclear about the fitness of Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah. The governing body is still awaiting the fitness reports of the two key players, which is why they have asked for an extension to the deadline for announcing the ICC Champions Trophy squad.

Jasprit Bumrah suffered a back injury during the last Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy and it was recently revealed by the Indian Express that the fast bowler has a swollen back. It was learned that the pacer might miss the league stage of the ICC Champions Trophy and play the eliminators.

On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav faced a groin injury right at the start of the New Zealand Test series. He underwent a surgery in Germany and toiled hard at the NCA, ensuring that he returns in time to play the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

Recent reports claim that Kuldeep Yadav is very close to reaching full fitness. The wrist spinner is likely to be fit by the end of this month and could even play in the ODI series against the England national cricket team, which starts on February 6.
