Aston Villa have completed the signing of Donyel Malen from Borussia Dortmund in a total deal worth just over £20m.
Villa paid an initial £21m but the deal could be worth £27.7m including performance-related bonuses.
Malen has scored five goals in 20 games in all competitions this season for Dortmund, scoring in their last game, a 3-1 Bundesliga win against Wolfsburg.
The former Arsenal academy player found the back of the net a total of 39 times in 131 appearances for Dortmund in three-and-a-half years with the German giants.
The Dutchman joined Dortmund from PSV Eindhoven in July 2021 for a reported £26m, replacing Jadon Sancho who moved to Manchester United earlier that summer.
Malen spent two years in Arsenal's academy before being sold to PSV in the summer of 2017.
Villa's search for Malena pays off
Sky Sports News Senior Reporter Rob Dorsett:
“It was one they had been looking for for a long time.
“We know that Villa they've had a bit of a slump in recent weeks but they wanted Malen, they've been chasing him for a while and they wanted it to happen.”
