The Premier League has announced that its members are currently adhering to the rules on profitability and sustainability.
There were concerns from clubs that points would be cut like Everton and Nottingham Forest did last year, but the league was satisfied after analyzing the latest accounting period (2023-24).
But Leicester City still have a unique problem.
The three-year period under review saw the Foxes relegated to the Championship before returning to the top flight at the first attempt. Leicester had made a pre-tax loss of £89.7m in the 2022-23 accounting period – a figure that could have brought sanctions, but successfully argued they should not be penalized as they are no longer a Premier League club.
The matter is still under arbitration.
A Premier League statement this morning said: “The Premier League's jurisdictional issues regarding PSR compliance with Leicester City Football Club are currently the subject of a confidential arbitration hearing.
“Besides, Neither the League nor the Club will make any comment at this stage regarding the Club's compliance with the PSR or any related regulations. The league just said it had no complaints against Leicester. Any breach of the PSRs for the period ending the 2023-24 season.”
