Dani Olmo's temporary registration at Barcelona will expire at the beginning of April, at which point a decision on the legal matter will have to be made.
After seeing Olmo's emergency registration expire on December 31, along with that of teammate Pau Victor, Barcelona found themselves forced to turn to the Spanish government for help after La Liga emphasized the rule. prohibiting teams from registering players more than once throughout a single season.
Barcelona argued to the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) that they should have been able to re-sign Olmo and Victor before their original deals expired, and both players were eventually granted provisional registrations after the CSD decided that the case was worth hearing.
As noted by Athleticsthose temporary licenses are limited to three months, meaning Olmo and Victor will be able to play for Barcelona until at least early April.
The decision gives the CSD time to consider what is an important body of evidence from Barcelona. The Super Cup winners are believed to have submitted a dossier of over 60 supporting documents, while La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) will also be invited to defend their decisions to block the initial registration requests.
League have already appealed the decision to grant temporary registrations, which could add new complications to the whole situation.
Barcelona can play up to 22 games during those three months, with Olmos and Victor's temporary registrations set to expire ahead of Champions League the quarterfinals will take place on April 8/9.
