Erik ten Hag 'regularly visits' European giants after leaving Man Utd

Erik ten Hag has made frequent visits to Borussia Dortmund since being sacked as Manchester United manager – but the Bundesliga giants have no current plans to replace Nuri Sahi, reports in Germany claim.

Ten Hag it was was toppled from his position at Old Trafford in October, a late 2-1 defeat to West Ham United left the Red Devils in 14th place in the Premier League table with four defeats from their opening nine games – they are still in that spot almost three months on later.

The Dutchman remains unemployed and has yet to be linked with a major deal, so news of his visits to Dortmund is sure to pique the interest of viewers.

Sky Germany note that Ten Hag was present at Dortmund's recent 3-2 loss to Bayer Leverkusen, where he was accompanied by marketing director Carsten Cramer and even had a discussion with technical director Sven Mislintat, formerly of Arsenal.

The former Ajax coach is said to have been a frequent visitor to Signal Iduna Park in recent months, due to a strong relationship he has with former Germany international Matthias Sammer, who is a senior adviser at the club.

Indeed, Summer once hired Ten Hag to work as Bayern Munichreserve team coach and wanted to hire the 54-year-old as Germany Under-21 coach when he was working for the national federation.

However, there is no suggestion at this point that Ten Hag could be in line to replace current coach Nuri Sahin, although the pressure is on the former midfielder to step down. Dortmund rise in the Bundesliga table from their current position of ninth.

Dortmund reached last season Champions League final under Eden Terzic, but he decided to leave the club 12 days later. Sahin has been unable to continue that progress and will find his job under further scrutiny if the gap to qualify for next year's Champions League becomes too wide – Dortmund currently trail Leipzig in fourth with five points.
