Mumbai opening batsman Prithvi Shaw has once again grabbed the headlines for his social media antics. While others are busy preparing for the next round of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, Shaw took time out from training to vent his frustration at the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).
In fact, Prithvi Shaw shared yet another cryptic post on Instagram after being dropped from the Mumbai squad for their next Ranji Trophy 2024-25 clash against Jammu & Kashmir starting on January 23. However, this time the right-hander attacked openly. Mumbai selectors.
Prithvi Shaw's frustration boils over again after being omitted from Mumbai's 2024-25 Ranji Trophy squad
Earlier, the out-of-favour India opener at the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) was abandoned midway through the first leg of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy due to fitness and discipline concerns. However, Shaw was recalled for the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT).
But the once-promising talent failed to live up to expectations in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024-25, where he could only manage 197 runs in nine innings with a top score of 49. This form forced MCA and Mumbai. selectors to overlook Shaw for the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT).
However, this decision did not go down well with Shaw as he took to social media to criticize Mumbai for dropping him for the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He posted an emotional message on Instagram, which read: “Tell me Lord, what more have I got to see… If 65 innings, 3399 runs at an average of 55.7 with a strike rate of 126, i'm not good enough … But I will keep my faith in you and hopefully people will still believe in me… because I will definitely be back. Om Sai Ram.”
This did not bode well for the MCA as the state body official claimed that neither Ranji Trophy captain Ajinkya Rahane nor SMAT and VHT captain Shreyas Iyer were happy with Prithvi Shaw's attitude. He also claimed that Shaw was partying until 6 a.m. during the SMAT and was not following the fitness plan he was given.
You can't stop me from working: Prithvi Shaw slams MCA
Well, Shaw's fitness and form has been a hot topic for a long time and his outbursts on social media have often worked against him, but he repeats the same mistake again and again.
However, the Indian cricketer worked hard on his fitness after playing in the Police Shield tournament, but again, he was overlooked by the MCA and Mumbai selectors for the next round of the ongoing Ranji season.
After being dropped for Mumbai's Ranji clash against Jammu & Kashmir, Prithvi Shaw added fuel to the fire by launching a fresh attack on MCA. The opening batsman said they could drop him but they couldn't stop him working without mentioning anything or anyone.
Sharing a photo of himself in an India jersey after a workout, Prithvi Shaw posted on his Instagram story, “You can knock me out!! But you can't stop me from working…”
Here is Prithvi Shaw's viral Instagram story:
Notably, Shaw played five Tests, six ODIs and one T20I match for India and scored over 500 runs. He was last seen in an India jersey in 2021. Apart from Mumbai and India, he failed to attract any franchise in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
