Sam Konstas chirped at Jasprit Bumrah during the fifth and final Test in Sydney and fired up the Indians to respond to the young gun by dismissing Usman Khawaja.

It led to an intense reaction from Bumrah and the Indian players. However, days after Australia won the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1 against India, Sam Konstas admitted his emotions may have gotten the best of him in the first two Test matches.

However, Konstas remains confident in his batting style and is keen to prove himself during Australia's upcoming Test series in Sri Lanka. The 19-year-old batsman played two Tests against India and scored 113 runs with his debut score of 60 runs at the MCG and is now excited about the next challenge against Sri Lanka.

The Australian batsman mentioned that playing in front of a big crowd in Sri Lanka will be a completely different experience but admitted that the emotions of playing in front of the big crowd affected him a little during the BGT 2024-25 series against India. El Konstas noted that Sri Lanka will be a tough team to beat in their home conditions.
Sam Konstas was quoted by Cricbuzz: “It will be completely different with the crowd (in Sri Lanka) obviously. It was my first time playing to big crowds and maybe the emotions got to me a bit reflecting on it. But obviously Sri Lanka will be tough to beat in their home conditions. I'm looking forward to that.”
Meanwhile, the right-handed batsman said it is a great honor to represent his country and play in Sri Lanka. He also mentioned that Australia has a strong team and if they get a chance to open, they will grab the opportunity with both hands.

However, Travis Head is likely to be promoted to the top order having previously opened for the Sri Lankan Kangaroos. Konstas also remarked: “It's obviously a huge honor to represent my country and tour Sri Lanka. They have welcomed me with open arms and I am eager to learn and improve. Obviously, we have a strong team.”
The Aussie gun finished by saying: “If I get the chance (to open) I hope I grab it with both hands. I feel like I will continue to support myself. Obviously, I will adapt with my different methods. I can't wait for that to happen. It's a dream come true, hopefully, but they (selectors) haven't said anything.”
Notably, Australia and Sri Lanka will play a two-match Test series starting January 29 in Galle, followed by the two ODIs.
