Everton must find a way to solve the Ndiaye conundrum
Ask any opposition supporter who has faced Everton this season and most will tell you they have a player in Iliman Ndiaye for all their attacking problems.
Stop Ndiaye and you stop Everton. He has three goals, but no assists. However, the problem that emerges in this miserable run of five goals in 11 league games – nine of which have not been scored by Everton – is that Ndiaye has appeared to be operating in a parallel universe to his team-mates. Isolated and sometimes out of sync.
Put simply, the Senegalese playmaker struggled to establish himself. Against Villa, he won possession seven times – more than any other player – but mustered just one touch in the opposition box. No chances created, zero takeover attempts.
On one occasion, Jesper Lindstrom only needed a simple two-yard pass to his feet on the edge of the box, but he was somehow wayward in his execution.
Even for Ollie Watkins' crucial strike, Ndiaye tried to stop Villa's counter, but in trying to get involved it only led to a mix-up with Jarrad Branthwaite. For all his nice touches and close ball control, last summer's big signing isn't nearly as effective as he could be.
If David Moyes is to eventually solve Everton's problems in front of goal, he needs to make better use of Ndiaye than his predecessor.

'Ashley Cole vibes… Lewis-Skelly poised for greatness'
'Where are all the English left-backs,' we cried.
England clearly have a problem now with Ben Chilwell and Luke Shaw struggling to make an impact at the top level for a variety of reasons.
England needn't worry though. Miles Lewis-Skelly is the answer. And Thomas Tuchel was at the Emirates to witness it first hand.
The 18-year-old was once again phenomenal. Right from the first whistle, he jumped into the match and let Raheem Sterling in on goal. That set the tone. And he didn't give in.
Tottenham are a dangerous team on the right flank with Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski, but you wouldn't know it from this game. Lewis-Skelly saw everyone present with a performance full of tenacity, class and incredible maturity.
No player made more tackles for Arsenal (4), won possession more times (6) and had a higher passing accuracy (93.8 per cent) than Lewis-Skelly, as the stats backed up the visuals.
There were real Ashley Cole vibes about what we witnessed. Arsenal and England have that kind of talent.

'It's got to change' – has the pin finally fallen for Ange?
“It has to change,” said Ange Postecoglou after the latest defeat by Arsenal. The Tottenham manager spoke about his team's form – but was there a hidden message?
Resigned to yet another defeat – one league win since the end of November – Postecoglou may be beginning to realize that his all-out attacking style is not the way forward. Spurs were too easy to play against, “passive” in his own words – and the sight of seeing north London rivals Arsenal storming towards another title challenge would have stung.
Spurs played right into Arsenal's hands, ignoring the Gunners' advantage and going their own way. In the first 11 minutes, Spurs gave Arsenal six set pieces – four corners and two free kicks. It was no surprise that – with five minutes to go before half-time – Tottenham saw their lead slip away thanks to set-pieces and a lack of street play before the break.
This cannot go on – and Postecoglou will not continue at Spurs if he continues like this. They are closer to the relegation zone than the top seven this week, battling non-league opposition in the FA Cup.
They need big wins away from home to win the Carabao Cup and Europa League trophies when they have a record of two 90-minute away wins in their last 10 matches. Ange's Spurs are going in one direction – and that is in the opposite direction to Arsenal.

Can anyone stop Isaac and Newcastle?
Newcastle's games at the moment play out like a classic rom-com – one more match, one more win. And a couple more goals and an assist by Aleksandar Isak.
Another sign that magpies only go in one direction – up.
And Isak has been a big part of their recent success, which has included nine straight wins in all competitions. He scored his 18th Premier League goal of the season on Wednesday, as well as assisting Anthony Gordon's 13th goal.
Isak is only the fourth player to score in eight consecutive Premier League appearances, following Jamie Vardy (twice for Leicester), Ruud van Nistelrooy (twice for Manchester United) and Daniel Sturridge (for Liverpool).
He has been labeled as the best striker in the Premier League right now, and given his numbers, it's hard to argue with that assessment.
Along with the likes of Sandro Tonali, Newcastle are finally reaping the rewards of their transfer strategy. They are now in the top four and it will take something special to stop them.

A drop in goals adds to Leicester's woes
Leicester have a goal problem. Before Ruud van Nistelrooy's appointment, they had scored in every Premier League game but one, but this was their fourth clean sheet in a now six-match losing streak, during which they scored just twice.
If they could have made life easier for their goalkeeper, they would have been out of danger in no time, but the Foxes have the second worst defense in the Premier League. They have already seen this defeat against Crystal Palace; performances under the new boss have been better than results but not good enough in any box.
Realistically, they'll have to deal with goals from trouble – this defense isn't going to improve any time soon. So Jamie Vardy's goalless streak, which stretches back to the start of their losing streak, is a serious problem.
Relying on the 38-year-old striker was always a risk, with Jordan Ayew and Patson Daka lacking the firepower to replace him.
Further quality incomings at one end of the pitch or the other – or ideally both – look essential if the Foxes are to stay up. But after their PSR concerns in recent years, that may be too much to ask.

Wolves' weak defense remains a problem
New boss Vitor Pereira has made Wolves more compact since his arrival, but back-to-back 3-0 defeats in the Premier League highlight the defensive improvements still needed if this group of players are to retain their top-flight status for next season.
Emmanuel Agbadou was on for his Premier League debut but endured a few awkward moments, while Santi Bueno and Matt Doherty were also guilty of leaving too much space in their box for Newcastle's second and third goals.
Pereira will need more from his forwards as he created more than enough scoring chances at St James' Park and in that home defeat to Nottingham Forest. But the defence, worst in the Premier League, remains the biggest concern.
