Jasprit Bumrah gives major injury update after 'bed rest' report.

Jasprit Bumrah put an end to rumors about his fitness as the Indian ace pacer flatly denied reports that he was advised bed rest due to swelling on his back. The 31-year-old fast bowler dismissed the claims with humour, calling them baseless and from unreliable sources.

With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on the horizon, Bumrah's participation remains seriously in doubt after suffering a back spasm during the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. While the BCCI has remained silent on Bumrah's availability, there has been much speculation about his injury.

The Times of India quoted a source as saying, β€œBumrah might go to the CoE next week, but there is no fixed date yet at the moment. He was advised to rest in bed at home to help the muscles recover and the swelling to subside. Once this is done, the future course of action will be determined.”

'Fake news made me laugh': Jasprit Bumrah dismisses reports of bed rest

After the news spread like wildfire, Jasprit Bumrah was forced to take to social media to dispel the rumours. He laughed at the “fake news” and called the source “untrustworthy.” The Indian pacer rubbished the report while tagging the content creator on X, which was later deleted following the Indian star's reaction.

Bumrah posted on X, β€œI know fake news is easy to spread but this made me laugh. Unreliable sources,” with some laughing emojis.

Meanwhile, the Indian pacer was in stellar form last year across the format before suffering back spasm in the Australia tour where he took 32 wickets in nine innings and won the Player of the Series award.

Bumrah is currently the top bowler in the ICC Test rankings and has also received the ICC Player of the Month award for December 2024 for his outstanding performance in the recent Test series against Australia.
