Erling Haaland has signed a new contract with Manchester City that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2034.
The Norwegian is in his third season at the Etihad Stadium and has already scored 111 goals in all competitions from 126 appearances – 79 of them coming in just 87 Premier League games.
Haaland's previous deal was due to expire in the summer of 2027 and there had been strong suggestions that Real Madrid OR Barcelonadespite their ongoing financial problems, would try to lure him to La Liga in order to play alongside or against the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Pedri and Gavi.
But putting an end to all speculation about his future, Haaland now there is paint cool conditions with townin what is understood to be one of the most 'lucrative' sports contracts ever awarded to a professional athlete. Haaland will be almost 34 by the time his contract expires and the deal is thought to have removed any release clauses previously included.
Fabrizio Romano states that a new clause will come into force from 2029 onwards, although it is unclear what the figure will be and is only described as 'very high figures'.
Haaland's commitment for the bulk of his playing career is a massive boost to a City side who have endured a torrid campaign that will almost certainly see them relinquish their Premier League crown.
City have won the title six times out of eight under Pep Guardiola, but a shocking run of form that has seen them win just two in 14 games in all competitions has left them 12 points adrift. Premier League the pace set by Liverpool – they also have a game in hand – and also well below the reformed Champions League table in 22nd place.
Wins in City's final two group games will be needed to secure passage to the next stage, no doubt putting pressure on Haaland's shoulders to deliver. The 24-year-old has scored five times in six Champions League performances so far this season, as he sits second in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot behind Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.
