Clarence House Chase: Phenomenal Jonbon too good for Energumene in Ascot match as Nicky Henderson eyes Cheltenham | Racing News

Jonbon landed Energumene to claim another stunning triumph in the BetMGM Clarence House Chase at Ascot.

Nico de Boinville was positive from the start and soon established an advantage at the front with the 8/13 favourite.

There was a point in the race where Nicky Henderson's player wasn't so fluent over the fence and this allowed Paul Townend to close down Energumene who came into the home straight.

However, Jonbon kicked on again and rallied in the jumping department when it mattered most, galloping hard to win by six and a half lengths.

The JP McManus-owned nine-year-old made it 17 wins from 20 races under rules and cemented his position as favorite for the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham.

More to come…
