Both Rohit Sharma and Ajit Agarkar walked out and left the hall after answering questions from reporters. There were several doubts, but both cleared them all.
Meanwhile, the press conference was held to announce India's squad for the ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy 2025. Rohit Sharma will lead the team while Shubman Gill will retain his position as vice-captain.
Yashasvi Jaiswal chose as the third opener
Both Rohit and Gill are likely to be India's openers in the first match of the Champions Trophy. Yashasvi Jaiswal was picked in the squad as the third opener despite not having played an ODI so far. Jaiswal has been prolific in both the Test and T20I formats and has now been rewarded with an ODI call-up.
Virat Kohli will occupy his usual place of no. 3 and will be one of the crucial players for India despite his poor batting form. Shreyas Iyer retained his place in the middle order after impressive outings in the ODI format last time India played.
KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant were picked as unplaced players for Sanju Samson. Hardik Pandya is the only fast bowler in the squad as the selectors opted against the selection of exciting all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy.
Pandya hasn't played much 50-over cricket of late and it remains to be seen how he fares in the tournament. There is a huge presence of spin bowlers in the team which might have been due to the favorable spin conditions in the UAE.
Team full of spin bowling players
Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar are all capable of bowling their full share of overs and can also contribute with the bat in the lower order. Kuldeep Yadav is the only specialist spinner in the team.
The fast bowling looks in good form if Jasprit Bumrah is fit in time. Bumrah has been named but his availability in the first two ODIs against England will be subject to fitness. Harshit Rana was added as support for Bumrah.
Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh are the other two fast bowlers in the team. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj has been left out of the squad in favor of death-spinner Arshdeep Singh.
