Man City predicted line-up against Ipswich

There were further signs of Manchester City's mistake when they blew a two-goal lead at Brentford on Tuesday night.

The Bees' late showing at Gtech was hardly a huge surprise given what we've seen from Pep Guardiola's side over the last couple of months. This was not a result that would deter one Premier League The title charge, but one that saw them lose momentum in their bid to secure a top four finish.

The Cityzens are on their travels again this weekend and Guardiola could welcome back some injured stars in his matchday squad.

Here's how town could line up at Ipswich.

GK: Stefan Ortega – Ortega has generally been solid between the sticks, but Wednesday night wasn't his best work. Ederson could be considered again, but it seems that Pep will keep his faith in the German.

RB: Rico Lewis – With Kyle Walker sidelined, Matheus Nunes has been used at right back sporadically in recent weeks. However, there should be rotation on Sunday with the developing Lewis returning to the team.

CB: Manuel Akanji – The Swiss defender will surely be considered at right-back when City sign Ruben Dias and John Stones. For now, Akanji will continue in the center of City's defense.

CB: Nathan Ake Dias has returned to training and could return to the matchday squad on Sunday. However, the Portuguese defender is likely to be kept out for next week's trip to Paris, allowing Ake to start once more.

LB: Josko Guardiol Guardiola could offer Guardiol respite by using Lewis on the left wing and keeping Matheus Nunes in defence. The Croatian has been outstanding this season, but the alternatives are sub-optimal. Hello, Andrea Cambiaso?

CM: Ilkay Gundogan – The best of Ilkay Gundogan Gundogan and Mateo Kovacic have been able to alleviate the absence of Rodri in the base of the midfield, with Guardiola struggling to grasp an optimal formula to avoid opponents in transition.

RM: Bernardo Silva – The dependable player is seemingly out of breath, and only two City players have racked up more Premier League minutes than Silva.

AM: James McAtee – Kevin De Bruyne still has it, and he is likely to be rested ahead of the crucial clash with PSG. So the door could be open for McAtee, last weekend's hat-trick hero, to earn a very rare Premier League start.

AM: Phil Foden – After a quiet first half of the 2024/25 season, Foden has burst into life in recent weeks. Englishman it was in the doubles in west london on Wednesday.

Champions League: Jeremy Doku – Savinho has been excellent on his 'natural' wing, but Guardiola has alternatives. Doc or Jack Grealish could get the nod in East Anglia.

ST: Erling Haaland – Haaland helped City overcome an early deficit in the reverse fixture and there is surely no better way to celebrate a bumper contract extension than returning to the scoresheet at Portman Road.
