Real Madrid dealt a big blow in the Alphonso Davies transfer saga


Real Madrid target Alphonso Davies is close to agreeing a new contract with Bayern Munich, reports have revealed.

Davies has entered the final six months of his current deal and has long been expected to leave on a free tRANSFER this summer, with Madrid eyeing a bargain deal after negotiations over a renewal with Bayern stalled.

Earlier this week, it looked like Davies had taken another step closer to the exit door as his agent left Munich without agreement with new conditions. Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United All were expected to be contacted for discussions about a possible free transfer.

Now, however, Athletics have revealed that Davies is closer to putting pen to paper on a new contract with Bayern.

A deal has yet to be agreed, but Bayern and Davies are now believed to be very close to shaking hands and ending the long uncertainty surrounding the left-back's future.

This could be an important blow for Madrid Sky Sports Germany It was recently reported that Davies was effectively part of a package deal along with midfielder Jamal Musiala, with both players making it clear they wanted to continue playing alongside each other.

A new contract for Davies will therefore help Bayern's hopes of tying down Musiala to a new deal. The German representative, a target for both Madrid and Manchester City, has 18 months left to run on his current deal.
