Man Utd are set to miss out on top transfer target Ruben Amorim

Nuno Mendes is reported to have changed his attitude for a winter tRANSFER to Manchester United and is now learning to sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

United's head coach Ruben Amorim first highlighted his desire to sign a new left back in November in 2025, with links to Mendes growing rapidly in the days that followed.

The 22-year-old, whose current contract expires at the end of next season, made a name for himself under Amorim at Sporting CP and was claimed to be eager for an immediate reunion.

PSG, however, have refused to concede defeat in their bid to keep Mendes and the French publication Team say that the Ligue 1 giants are close to realizing their wish. Indeed, the left-back's representatives now admit that their top priority is renewing his contract.

Mendes is no longer expressing interest in a move to the backroom, having reportedly been impressed with a tactical change from manager Luis Enrique that has given him more attacking freedom in recent months.

“I see him the same as ever,” Enrique told the media on Friday when asked if the speculation had affected Mendes. “That's more of a question to ask him than me. But I see him very well.”

united will continue to monitor the situation but will likely have to pursue other targets. Meanwhile, Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot will continue to operate on the left in the absence of the permanently injured Luke Shaw, with Amorim operating the full-back system he found so successful with Sporting.
