Mathys Tel makes decision to join Chelsea from Bayern Munich

Mathys Tel has privately reaffirmed his desire to stay with Bayern Munich this winter in the face of interest from Chelsea, reports in Germany say.

Chelsea have long had an interest in Tel and, amid uncertainty over the future of Mykhailo Mudryk after positive drug testhave started looking in Europe possible reinforcements out wide.

The Blues' desire to sign Tel was reaffirmed this winter when Bayern Munich have contacted Christopher Nkunku.

While Nkunku is thought to want to move to Bayern, Sky Sports Germany The Tel-State, who are yet to score in the Bundesliga season amid fierce competition for places, have stated their desire to stay with the Bavarian giants beyond this transfer window.

Tel's refusal to listen to offers ends speculation of a possible swap deal involving Nkunku, who has been unable to dislodge Nicolas Jackson as Chelsea's first-choice striker. Bayern are expected to continue efforts to reach a deal for the 27-year-old but could return in the summer if they fail to convince Chelsea to sell this month.

For Chelsea, they have been forced to look elsewhere for a new winger. Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho and Borussia Dortmund's Jamie Gittens are both of interest to the Blues, who may need further reinforcements afterwards AC Milan decided their desire to sign Joao Felix.

Felix was signed on a permanent deal last summer, having previously spent six months on loan at Stamford Bridge, but like Nkunku has been able to break into Enzo Maresca's side. Instead, the 25-year-old, who cost Atletico Madrid a mammoth €126m (£113m) as a 19-year-old, has been largely used in Chelsea's navigation through the group stages of the Conference League.
