Manchester City were at their best as they celebrated Erling Haaland's new contract with a 6-0 demolition of Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
The champions started the day in eighth place in the Premier League thanks to positive results at Aston Villa and Bournemouth on Saturday.
They were in no mood to be rattled from the first whistle in East Anglia, taking a three-goal lead into the half-time interval as Phil Foden (2) and Mateo Kovacic put the game away for Ipswich.
Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland and substitute James McAtee did more damage after the break, reminding those who have doubted Pep Guardiola and his players that there is plenty of quality left in the tank.
Foden and Doku were excellent in particular, showing great attacking dynamism and fluidity of movement, and town now they are up to Premier LeagueTop four as a result of their win – they still trail leaders Liverpool by 12 points.
