Liverpool have been perfect in the Champions League so far, and a point at home to Lille on Tuesday will see them through to the last 16.
The Reds have flashed their eyes a few times over the past month, but a Darwin Nunez double at Brentford on Saturday assured that there was no dissipation in the momentum. Liverpool are six points clear at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand and their strong position in the league table means Arne Slot should be rested and rotated ahead of the visit of Ipswich this weekend.
Lille are on a 21-game unbeaten run and are looking for a top-eight finish, but that shouldn't stop Slott from giving members of the fringe squad a chance on Tuesday night.
Here's how Liverpool could line up against Lille.
GK: Alisson – Slott could finally make changes on Tuesday, but the Dutchman could keep his number one keeper after keeping a clean sheet at the weekend.
RB: Conor Bradley – We all know what Bradley got the last time he started a Champions League game at Anfield. Well, Kylian Mbappe can be remembered.
CB: Jarell Quansah – Joe Gomez is out until February and Ibrahima Konate remains fragile, so young centre-back Quansah could get the nod against Lille.
CB: Virgil van Dijk – Van Dijk has racked up the most minutes in Liverpool's squad this season, with Sloti understandably unwilling to leave his stalwart defender out of the squad. If the manager makes wholesale changes, he will keep Van Dijk to marshal his troops again.
LB: Andy Robertson – The Scot hasn't had the best of seasons, finding himself on the bench on several occasions, but Kostas Tsimikas could have an important role to play during the second half of the season. This might bring him a memory.
CM: Let's look at Endo – Endo proved useful in year one, but isn't the ideal Slot midfield option. However, it's time for Ryan Gravenberch to take a breather.
CM: Curtis Jones – Jones has operated primarily in a more advanced role under Slott, but the Englishman can excel in a deeper role and should offer Alexis Mac Allister rest in midweek.
RM: Mohamed Salah – Like Van Dijk, Slott has used Salah mercilessly and the Egyptian will not want to be out of the team given his recent drought.
AM: Harvey Elliott – The English playmaker Talks of a move away from Anfield have been dismissed recentlyand he should get the chance to impress on Tuesday night having featured only sporadically since recovering from a broken leg.
LM: Federico Chiesa – Chiesa has started to play a bigger role for the Reds after scoring his first goal for the club in FA Cup. The Italian is in contention to return to Slott's XI after appearing off the bench on Saturday.
ST: Darwin Nunez – Talk about a time keeper. Liverpool Supporters were starting to grow frustrated with Nunez once again, but they were bringing his name up into the early hours of Sunday morning after his heroics in west London.
