Sunil Gavaskar explains why Karun Nair was not dismissed

Although Nair did not object, his name was never included in the Indian Champions Trophy 2025. Gavaskar, the cricket legend, gave his input on the selection. He also explained that Nair's dismissal was based on the best consideration of the team and the role of the players. Gavaskar highlighted the two players in the squad had already established roles, and their strong performances in recent matches made it difficult to get Nair in the team.

Where should he fit? You could have replaced KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. KL will play the second wicketkeeping role for the team, and his performance in the 2023 World Cup was excellent. I don't think the Indian cricket team played much ODI cricket after that. Shreyas Iyer has also done well in the format. This is why Karun Nair was not selected“The former Indian captain told SportsTak (via Sports Insider)
