Manchester City has agreed a loan deal with AC Milan which will send Kyle Walker to the Italian giants for the remainder of the season, according to reports in France.
Pep Guardiola revealed that the veteran defender wanted to end his career outside of England after leaving it out for him Salford City's FA Cup strike earlier this month. Milan emerged almost immediately as Walker's sharpest suitors.
There have been some brief suggestions that Inter will grab the dealbut Milan plowed forward and put in theirs first official offer for the 34-year-old, who quickly threw his support behind the movement. The Serie A side have now reached an agreement with Manchester City, according to Team.
The French outlet claim that Milan have agreed a fee-paying loan for Walker during the second half of the current season in a deal that includes “a readily available purchase option”.
Walker may be in Milan as soon as Wednesday (January 22) to complete his medical procedures and complete the procedures.
City have wasted no time bringing in their own defensive reinforcements. Offers for Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis were both officially announced this week, while the defending champions have already lined up a third quarterback signing of the month in the form of AIK Freetong's highly rated Juma Bah.
Walker's venerable pace seems to have faded this season and Guardiola hasn't started him in one Premier League game since the late collapse against Manchester United in mid-December. However, as Nathan Ake was quick to point out after being informed of the friend's development, Walker's departure it will be “massive” given his wealth of experience and intangible leadership qualities.
City's arrivals are regarded as some of the brightest young prospects in world football, but Khusanov is the veteran of the trio at 20 years of age.
