Yadav has expressed his disappointment and frustration at not being selected in the main market of IPL 2025, despite playing for 15 years and participating in nearly 150 matches. He admitted that the omission was disappointing and found it difficult to accept.
“Everyone knows that I was not selected for the IPL this year. I've been playing for 15 years. It's amazing. How did I lie? It sounds bad. After playing a lot and playing almost 150 IPL matches, you don't get selected. It's amazing,” Yadav said as reported by Hindustan Times.
Umesh Yadav accepts the decisions of the franchise but expresses dissatisfaction
The right-handed bowler said the decision was made due to concessions or a time when his name was mentioned when he had no money. Despite his disappointment, he admitted that he could not change the decisions of others.
“It is about the franchises and their methods, or my name came late in the sale, and they were not left with money. Regardless, something has happened. I am very disappointed and confused. Anyway, it's okay. I cannot change anyone's decision,” he added.

Yadav's IPL journey has spanned 15 years, featuring for several franchises. He made his IPL debut in 2010 Delhi Capitals and went to represent several groups, including Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. Over the years, he has been an integral part of his team's bowling, known for his pace and wicket-taking skills. His best IPL season came in 2022 when he took 16 wickets in 12 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders, showcasing his skills at the highest level.
