Barcelona receives an offer in Serie A for the out-of-favour defender

Barcelona could have multiple options to offload full-back Eric Garcia before the end of January tRANSFER window amid an approach from ambitious Serie A side Como.

Having started a number of La Liga games in September, Garcia has struggled to regain a place in Hansi Flick's preferred line-up since recovering from an injury lay-off nearly two months ago.

The versatile 24-year-old has already been the subject of interest from Girona, where he spent last season on loan, with reports of a willingness to pay up to €10m (£8.5m).

Girona have not been able to maintain last season's success, seeing their elimination from the Champions League inevitable, but the Catalan club are still in European contention for the 2025/26 season.

Competition is now coming from Italy for Garcia's signature. Fabrizio Romano writes about an offer from Como worth 7 million euros, though Gianluca Di Marzio puts the figure slightly higher at 10 million euros.

Como, backed by the richest ownership group in Italian football, have risen up the table in recent weeks thanks to improved results since Christmas after initially struggling following promotion.

Cesc Fabregas' side lost summer signing Raphael Varane at the start of the season, with the French veteran opting to retire with injury, but continuing to work behind the scenes as a board member. Garcia also has experience in English football, playing 35 times for Manchester City in his first career start, and could be an astute addition if a deal is struck.

Barcelona have moved past the worst of their financial woes but must still take into account the wage bill if they are to continue their summer spending spree to rebuild the squad, with the Manchester United striker. Marcus Rashford among their expensive targets.
