Virgil van Dijk equaled Liverpool's club record for most wins in a player's first 50 Champions League games as the Reds faced Lille on Tuesday.
Van Dijk played 90 minutes in comfortable 2-1 winwhich maintained Liverpool's 100% form in the Champions League this season.
It was his 50th appearance for the Liverpool in the Champions League and the 35th time he has come out on the winning side, equaling the previous record set by the legendary Phil Neal.
Neal, who is the most successful player in Liverpool's history with a haul of 23 trophies between 1974 and 1985, won four European Cups during his time at Anfield and currently sits seventh in the club's all-time appearances list with 650 outings on his behalf.
Manager Arne Slott remains impressed with Van Dijk, whose expiring contract does not appear to be affecting his form on the pitch alongside Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“The situation has not affected the group and in fact, only one of the players has had a poor performance this season and that was Trent against (Manchester) United,” said Slot. Amazon Prime before the match.
“Every other game we've played, Virgil, Mo and Trent have always met or exceeded the standard.”
