Scottie Scheffler plays in AT & T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in first event since Christmas dinner injury | Golf News

Scottie Scheffler has committed to playing the AT&T Gravel Beach Pro-Am next week, his first competition since injuring his right hand while preparing Christmas dinner.

Scheffler said earlier in the week that his recovery was progressing well and he was eager to return, but that he would not be “rushing just to get back.”

Scheffler tied for sixth year last year at the AT & T Gravel Beach Pro-am, live Sky Sports Since Jan. 30, when it was reduced to 54 holes due to raging wind and rain.

It will be Scheffler's first tournament appearance since winning the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas for the second time in December.

Scheffler also teamed with Rory McIlroy in Las Vegas to win a made-for-TV match that lasted just 14 holes against the likes of Koepke and Bryson Dechambeau.

The 28-year-old said she couldn't touch a club as she lets her right arm heal from surgery to remove the cup and said: “It was quite unusual that I wouldn't be able to do much in the gym.”

Scheffler had to miss the guard at Kapalua and American Express last week in the California desert and did not reveal when he would suit up again.

Scheffler said he “lived almost to the fullest this year” after securing the FedExCup victory, pushing off the “nuts” season — and on the golf course.

The 28-year-old became the first player to win the players, masters and fedexcup in the same season.

Scheffler closed out a four-stroke victory at the season-ending championship, where he never relinquished the top spot at any point and became the first player since Tiger Woods in 2007 to register seven or more wins in a PGA Tour year.

After winning the Masters for the second time in three years, he was arrested and charged outside the second round at the PGA Championship in May.

The charges were later dropped with Scheffler going on to win his next two signature events – the Memorial and Travelers Championships – before securing gold for Team America at the Paris Olympics and winning the PGA Tour's FedExcup for the first time in his career.
