'We need to do better'

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca admits his side are in a tough spot but believes his side can break through.

Chelsea lost 3-1 to Manchester United on Saturday evening, with the London club dropping to sixth in the process.

It was the fifth straight loss against Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Brighton.

Noni Madueke took an early lead after mistakes from Abdukodir Khusanov.

Marna reflected on the event. He admitted to being disappointed by the missed opportunities.

He said: “This game was very good for us. We scored the first goal and scored two or three goals in the second. It would have changed the game completely. We missed it.

“The team was there, but in the last minutes we conceded for 1-1. The second goal changed the game. Robert knows he needs to do better. Working hard every day (a way to improve). He tries to talk to all of them.

“We are improving. We are better than a month or two ago. This little time will make us better.

“We scored the first one, the second one, against this team and these players, this player is always open. At the end of the first half we conceded and then the second half it was maybe 50/50.

“When you go 0 at the end of the first half, the best way is to avoid it. For me, if I score the second one, it's a different game.

“We need to do better, but we're still playing games, and we scored the first one. If we could have scored, the game would have been very different for us.”

Manini knows that City have quality players who can punish the opposition.

He once again lived in no man's land in the second place of the city.

“They have players that they have players.

“In my opinion, we are more than once a month to two months ago.

“Robert (Sanchez) was the first to notice the mistake. I think the second goal changed the mentality.

“We're short. Game after game is our chance to learn.”
