Boxing Results: Destroys the Pedrazo market

Lightweight contender Ernesto Mercado (17-0, 16 KOs) made a statement tonight, stopping former world champion Jose 'Sniper' Pedrazo (29-7-1, 14 KOs) with the fourth knockout in a scheduled 10-round fight on Saturday night at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Chelsea Ballroom, Las Vegas.

Mercado, 23, stunned Pedraza with a left hook, followed by a right hand behind the ear to send him to the canvas. Pedraza got up slowly and when he finally did, he stumbled a bit. The referee, Robert Hoyle, looked at him and stopped the fight. The time was 2:08 of the fourth.

The difference in size and strength or Mercado was too much for Pedraza, who could not match him. Pedraza looked like he was afraid to go down the entire fight and let Mercado land most of the shots in a one-sided contest.

After the fight, Mercado called out Shakur Stevenson saying he wanted him next. Shakur didn't seem eager in the crowd to mess with this young talent.
